PoliticalTextKiller ("the App") is developed and maintained by Dave Cichy / DMC Inc. This policy explains how the App handles your data.
Data Collection
The App does not collect, transmit, or store any personal data on external servers. All processing happens entirely on your device.
SMS Access
The App requests SMS permissions solely to scan, classify, and optionally delete political spam text messages from your inbox. Message content is analyzed on-device using keyword matching and a locally-running machine-learning model. No message content is ever sent to any server, API, or third party.
Notification Access
If granted, Notification Listener access is used to detect and dismiss notifications for messages classified as political spam. Notification data is not stored beyond the in-memory kill ring buffer (last 50 entries) used for the app's analytics display.
Shizuku (Optional)
The optional Shizuku integration allows the App to delete SMS messages silently without becoming the default SMS app. This uses a local privileged shell and does not transmit data off-device.
Subscription Data
Subscription purchases are handled entirely by Google Play Billing. The App receives a purchase token from Google Play to verify subscription status. No payment or billing details are accessible to the App or its developer.
Analytics & Crash Reporting
The App does not include any analytics SDKs, crash reporting services, or advertising frameworks.
Data Storage
Classification rules, vault entries (quarantined messages), and kill-log records are stored in a local Room (SQLite) database on your device. This data is not backed up to the cloud unless you have enabled Android's device backup, which is controlled by your device settings.
Third-Party Services
The only third-party service the App communicates with is Google Play Billing for subscription management. No other network requests are made.
Children
The App is not directed at children under 13 and does not knowingly collect data from children.
Changes
This policy may be updated occasionally. The effective date at the top of this page will be revised accordingly.
